Description of family volunteering project in Ghana Africa
Family volunteering in Ghana Africa is a unique opportunity given to members of a family to travel abroad together and contribute to the amelioration of the rural poor and communities while inculcating the values of volunteerism, service, giving, sharing into their families. Family volunteering program also afford each member the opportunity to discover oneself, experience a whole new way of living, create a lifelong relationship with communities, tighten family bonds and acquire a wide perspective of life.
The family volunteering should be made of at least two (2) people.
Activities/work for family volunteering abroad in Ghana Africa
Raise funds to help build wells, washrooms, classroom blocks, libraries, and information technology centers (ITc), health centers, school furniture. The family volunteer helps fetch water, mix concrete, lay bricks, crack stones, painting etc…
Cooking, teaching, playing at the orphanage as well as taking orphans out. Teaching English, math, music, creative art, physical education, science, computer and other perform in rural community schools.
Helping in rural community health centers and hospitals.
Typical day of family volunteering in Ghana Africa program:
7.00am: Breakfast. Departure to project site
4.00pm: End of day’s activities
The itinerary is tentative. Family Volunteer works for 6 to 8 hours but does not work on Saturdays and Sundays. To make the trip complete VARAS advises that the family visits some of the Ghanaian breath taking tourist sites.
Family volunteer has a minimum of 1 week to a maximum of 12 months of volunteering period and will stay with a host family. Click here to read more on our host family.
