Is Water Really Life?
Drinkable water normally said is life but is this saying true and does this basic need really give the comfort it stands to give to the people of Forsime in the Volta Region of Ghana?
After walking 5 miles hike roundtrip including a trek up a mountain, access to water not drinkable water is what they need for their survival. After this long journey, one is entitled to drink only a cup in a day so the rest can be used to wash, bathe, cook… Dont be alarmed yet!!, this situation has been for decades.
We are all entreated to champion the campaign of water security and come March 22, the world shall observe World Water Day. Does this celebration really matter to the people of Abutia and it environs.
It is believed one cannot do without water and we are advised by expects to drink some require quantity of portable water daily for the full functioning of the body. What then is the faith for folks living in Forsime.
The contributions governments, international and local groups and organizations are doing to enable the world have not only access but portable water cannot be underestimated. Despite these efforts, more than 85% of Ghanaians living in rural communities drink with animals especially during the dry season.
As we honor World Water Day 2016, we should all make it a point to contribute more to support those who only fight for drinking dirty water out of having no other option have access to drinkable water.
