About Us

Our Story

Volunteers for Amelioration of Rural Areas (VARAS) is born out of our quest to find sustainable solutions to perennial economic and social challenges. Our belief is that, when rural folks work alongside international volunteers on opportunities, a sustainable solution can be found.

Volunteers for Amelioration of Rural Areas (VARAS) is  registered with the Registrar General Department in the Republic of Ghana under the companies’ code 1963 with registration number G-21, 982.

Objectives

Our objectives are driven from our missions ; education, health, women empowerment and rural enterprises.  · To provide international and local volunteer and intern placements · To provide resources and facilities to support the education and the health sector · To develop rural opportunities to engage rural women and the physically challenge to be economically and socially stable · To revamp already existing local industries in order to create employment

Goal

To ameliorate rural areas through the provision of quality, sustainable local and international  programmes and projects.

Mission

Sustainable development can only come from within and as part of mission, we have identified that the four ways to develop a person and a community is through community oriented programmes which work in line with the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals. These are 1.Education, 2.Health, 3.Women Empowerment, and 4.Rural Enterprise.
These missions if carried out will not only bring or develop just a person  but the entire community at large hence its sustainability.

Vision

To ameliorate rural communities by bridging the developmental gap between rural and urban areas through sustainable rural community projects and programmes in education, health women empowerment and rural enterprise.
